why do people feel the need to “associate” themselves into a fandom in the first place? do y’all not have the mental capability to exist own your own and like multiple things?

Fandoms don't ruin the thing they like unless the thing they like actively changes to cater to their demands that end up making something worse. Examples of this being somewhat minimal but you could say any mmo that adds a stupid mechanic for their room temperature iq players.
