Tbf it was dubbed back before anime was taken “seriously” in the west so they dubbed stuff like it was gonna be any old cartoon But yeah it’s painful in hindsight
I will say I actual like Shinji's voice actor, I don't think he fits him perfectly but His commentary during the credits of the last episode was pretty funny, it also kinda show's that It wasn't being taken "seriously" as they just let him do that and keep it in
