Not a single headline about what happened last night… This is bigger than partygate Bigger than Rwanda It’s so much worse A law was passed that will allow Tories to rig elections To take endless dodgy donations And to be accountable to no one but themselves A dark day

Tomorrow marks Boris Johnson's 1000th day as Prime Minister. In that time, there have been 541 divisions in Parliament, 376 of which would have changed result if seats matched votes. That is, ~70% of the time, the MPs voting against the government represented MORE people.

The party of law and order has run up a record backlog in the Crown Courts by defunding the police, Crown Prosecution Service, courts and legal aid. As a result victims of crime are failed on a daily basis. And dangerous criminals are getting away with it. We know. We see it.

More and more people are having to pay for hip and knee replacements to avoid long and painful waits on the NHS. Nobody's forced them to pay. No minster has 'privatised' their operations. Politicians' hands are clean. But it's privatisation nonetheless.

Hearing Jacob Rees-Mogg on LBC today made me think… One of the biggest misconceptions is that a posh accent equals intelligence Don’t be duped people It’s an indication of privilege Not intelligence

How many times does it need saying? Fracking will do nothing to improve energy security (& lots to drive climate crisis) since any gas extracted belongs to firm doing drilling, not to Govt, & it’d be sold on global markets. Renewables, insulation & heatpumps are faster & cheaper

One month before Russia invaded Ukraine, I stood trial at the High Court. And now I wait, in purgatory, to be judged. But I believe this trial and the silence around it - & all the Kremlin's men - has revealed something profoundly rotten at the heart of the British state. 1/

No one seems interested in the size of the fines. I bloody well am. Some huge fines were imposed on people with little money and I want to know the amount people at these 20 parties were fined. Retweet if you agree.

🧵. 5 tweets. People look slightly askance when I talk about the Trump-Johnson-Putin axis. I would invite you to think about these three points:

Last week, P&O Ferries sacked 800 workers without warning and replaced them with people paid just £1.80 an hour. Labour forced a vote just now in Parliament to outlaw fire and rehire - the Tories didn’t bother turning up so it fell.

Ok. Deep breath. I think we may look back on this as the first Great Information War. Except we're already 8 years in. The first Great Information War began in 2014. The invasion of Ukraine is the latest front. And the idea it doesn't already involve us is fiction, a lie. 1/
