Arguing for a better freight network makes more sense to me than having trains running at 200 miles an hour. Also rationalising the rail network doesn’t require the whole thing to be rebuilt.

Having the trains running at 200mph creates the space for the freight trains on the existing network, as per the article where it talks about commuter trains, the exact same argument can be made for freight. And one container train can 60-70 lorries off the road.
