Objectively - the C64 had best scrolling and sound, CPC had best vector graphics and colour, the Speccy had all the best coders working on it & the BBC Micro was best at socially destroying its users cause they inevitably had embarrassing middle class parents

We wont be able to agree on this, but one thing we can all agree on is the line "It will help with my homework' which got em in the first place.

I had a Spectrum...but I can't deny the C64 was better.
-
C64 games looked better, but Spectrum games *played* better. This was commonly held wisdom in my circles, despite none of us owning or ever having played on C64
-
I’d even disagree with this. Yeah the C64 could do colour WAAAAYYY better than the Speccy, but the game only looked better if you were ok with pixels half the size of the screen* *some hyperbole may have been utilised at the end there.

i wanted to make it shorter but yeah and 3" floppies too then, to be precise :) it was to make their age period more evident
-
Don’t remember 3” only 8” and 5 1/4. What were they for?

I do remember now actually, thanks for the prompt. Hundreds of games in my mums lofts and disk drive and monitor. I think I sold the C64. Will have to get another whilst they’re affordable.
-

I probably owe the IT part of my career (mainframe analyst programmer) to my dad buying me an Oric-1 with no bloody games available. I had to learn to program to do anything with it.
-
Haha! Me too - Oric-1! Spending all weekend programming one game which might be ready to play by Sunday night :)

Knowing that the CSAVE routine was really ropey with broken verification and that you might lose everything if you power off or crash.
