The Nigerian Diaspora in the US is 300,000 strong, has all the post-graduate degrees in the world, sends billions worth of remittances each year, but it cannot lobby the; 1. US Government. 2. Nigerian Government. So they are basically "just there" with no political power.

Are our health practitioners in Ghana fully trained to even see when someone died of this thing instead of flu or malaria...I am really hopeful that we can shine with a well coordinated response to this as a nation 🙏🏼.

January left us humbled in many ways. Important to focus on what is important and be more caring individuals in this new decade of ours.

Does googlemaps calculate how long it takes to walk somewhere based on the average population's walking speed? Seems there is a stark difference between the UK and the US.

I believe that economic development should not be for the sake of human comfort but rather for the sake of equal opportunity. Because of that I was never a fan of US visits. Yet this time I did get to learn a bit more how progress defines American culture. Grateful for that.

Never underestimate differences in business cultures. One of our US investors told me "sometimes you are too honest for people here". My payback for years of mocking Walmart for their failed Germany entry because they didnt get that Germans want to pack their own shopping bags 😂

The fatality rate (proportion of those who die when they catch a disease) of the 2014 to 2016 Ebola epidemic was around 50%. In the 2019 Ebola outbreak, it dropped to ~10%. It appears the fatality rate in the ongoing coronavirus outbreak is about 1.4%.

A month of too many sad losses. Take it as a reminder that you have to make every day count. And always part ways in peace with people you love.

Silicon Valley investors want to see global market potential. African ventures will not always be best suited for this kind of capital. Yet I also think African entrepreneurs tend to get limited by their passion for our continent's prosperity and forget to think globally.

My biggest learning from visiting the HQ of Facebook today: African businesses must embrace the business case of investing in workplaces. You can literally spend days at Facebook without going home because all you need is there. Productivity gain does not have to be difficult.

Exciting to meet last night. Can highly recommend his book "What you do is who you are". Thanks for creating opportunities to learn from the best of the best. Hopefully we find a good beat for our declaration soon.

As an entrepreneur you have to redefine your concept of stability. Its not a regular income or going to bed at the same hour every night. For me stability has become the regularity of taking time 1) to think and 2) to love. Everything else is a lost cause 🤣

“African corruption” is only African as regards its victims. Its perpetrators are institutions and individuals from across the globe who in cahoots with local elites are willing to loot without conscience as they watch their offshore accounts grow.

Kudos to who wrote this piece about dos Santos nearly a decade ago. Angolan activists, academics and journalists have been detailing this stuff for decades. ditto for foreign academics & activists like Philippe Le Billon and Sarah Wykes.
