My impression is he sees what's happening in industry. Loot boxes and multiplayer. But Nintendo games aren't suited for that. I mean, how do you put gacha into Odyssey or BoTW? They're single player after all. So next best thing is DLCs If you love those games, good news for you
Lastly, his comments make me think AC will have a big online focus. Maybe core Pokemon too. Just my speculation but there you have it. What other series are well suited to online and loot boxy stuff?

For some reason, I'm worried. Nintendo may be making more money but lately, I'm becoming less happy with their approach to business and the games they make... It feels like it's at the cost of the player mostly. They ask for loyalty and then ask you to keep proving it.
What's wrong with the games they make? They're really at the top of their game right now. Look at 2019. NSMBU, Yoshi, Luigi's Mansion 3, Fire Emblem, Animal Crossing, Daemon X Machina, maybe Bayo 3 and Prime. Could be argued that's better than 2017.

DLC doesn't mean EA DLC... DLCs can offer a lot. Look at the Xenoblade 2 DLCs.
