So @yimbyaction accepts donations from developers & has hired a professional lobbyist @louismirante to push #sb827. Grassroots or developer's surrogate driving developer's agenda?

And what is your solution for lowering housing costs? Or at least slowing their rise?

Maybe start by getting paid developer shills out of the game.

Paid developer shills build buildings. We need more buildings. So we need developers. buildings currently have good profit margins because rents are too damn high!

Developers will only build when the rents “are too damned high” and it’s not in their interest to build enough to lower rents. They control - and rents will stay “too damned high”

If that were true, it would have always been true. And we wouldn't need restrictions on density, since they wouldn't build it anyway. https://www.apartmentlist.com/rentonomics/rent-growth-since-1960/ …

None of this justifies statewide mandates removing local zoning & control. We have hundreds of units being built in our backyard.

SF has existing zoning for 153,000 more units and is upzoning as we speak. Certainly don’t need YimbyTech shills to continue overreach to satisfy their big backers.

Its due to commoditization of housing by international financiers, local speculators and over concentration of high income demand in certain cities.

We have Goldman Sachs investing in luxury housing in Corte Madera after erroneously high RHNA numbers were forced on the city. This is for a 5 story complex considered monstrously out of scale. #Sb827 would lead to 8-10 stories!
