We will be posting the clip in its entirety tomorrow. It was the most anti-housing we've heard from the BOS in a long while. But we'll let you be the judge.

I mean by all means increase corporate taxes to pay teachers, but also like, let’s manhattanize the Richmond. Seriously.

Framing the problem as an "office-housing imbalance" might lead to better results than trying to convince this constituency that "housing scarcity" is causing higher costs.

For example, having pols setting their sights on corporate expansion could get the corporates to work harder to build more housing.

Well I mean that *is* one way to help the housing problem. Decimate/“cool off” the local tech hiring market and burn the economy so demand collapses. Guess that’ll probably happen enventjally anyways . Alternatively of course, you could also just BUILD MORE FREAKING HOUSING.

Speculators = landlords, who don't like more housing being built because it reduces the massive appreciation of their land. YIMBYism kills speculation.

What do you mean subsidize? Speculators bank on their land values appreciating. If any other policies benefit landlords at the expense of residents and potential residents, YIMBYs would oppose those too.

How are they misrepresenting it? The author is pretty clear that he wants a less dynamic bay area economy, for example (rhetorically) questioning toward the end "What if we need to slow down the job growth?"
