The impetus behind this event is to critique YIMBY policies. YIMBYism alone won't undue the impacts of centuries of anti-black racism. We know this, so we want to broaden the YIMBY discussion.

“YIMBYism alone” is abt deregulating housing dev and taking from working communities the few tools they have to fight for equitable dev

All infill development that doesn't destroy existing multifamily housing is good. Shelters are good. Social housing is good. Supportive housing is good. Condos are good. Subsidized Affordable Housing is good. Apartments are good. Sprawl is bad. Displacement is bad.

Strong tenants protections are good. The best tenant protection is a supply glut that puts power back into the hands of consumers, rather than landlords.

The best anti-displacement would be to upzone rich exclusionary suburbs. The battle against displacement must be waged in wealthy exclusionary neighbors that push all development to low income communities.

Overall, we see a chronic, ever worsening housing shortage driving up prices. Solutions: 1) Upzone - especially SFH areas 2) Streamline permitting to build faster 3) More $ for Affordable Housing 4) Reform bad incentives like Prop 13

It’d be great if YIMBYs partner with transit advocates. That’d be a sustainable growth avenue, like Tokyo’s

We're working on a panel with @SFTRU right now! I'll ping you when it's finalized.
We're big supporters of transit, and many do advocacy with groups like @walksf and @sfbike.
