Disagree. Both camps want housing to be more affordable.
The "shouting match" in question involved exactly 0 DSA members (I was there). I'd suggest you question whoever provided you this anecdote.
I emailed Darby about this and she didn't respond to my request for a clarification.
My piece does not say she was a member. The DSA issued a call to counter the panel's "disinformation"; she responded.
other corrections: @SFYIMBY / @YIMBYaction & YIMBY groups generally, aren't "tenant activists"; their goals are not the same as DSA's;..
put it in an email, please: henry.grabar@slate.com
there's a reason I & many people prefer to make comments, suggestions publicly: it puts it in a forum where others can see & respond.
Um, we definitely see ourselves as activists for tenants. And mostly are renters. I'm glad this was put out publicly so we can dispute.
these groups support tenants right/interests, among other things, but "tenant activists" isn't imo a good term to describe them.
We are activists for tenants. We want them to spend less on rent.
