Removing the cap is the thing we're most excited about!
Unfortunately no one is proposing how to ACTUALLY bring us into compliance with State Law, by making ADUs ministerial.
But the @MarkFarrellSF amendments aren't bad.
These amendments are policies that the Planning Department has previously supported. So, all good recommendations. But... more cowbell.pic.twitter.com/1DHBSFXXuX
Today is a perfect example of "Why can't SF have nice things?" The pettiest of local politics keeping us from quickly adopting good policy.
"Somehow the unit cap got slapped on. ...It's become a disincentivize for building ADUs." - Tom Radulovich
.@yimbyaction and @SFHAC come out in support of the amendments, while @SFAptAssoc says we should just move the Peskin resolution forward.
"I'm a little embarrassed to be in a city that has such a housing shortage." - Speaker who wants to build 2 ADUs
Ultimate Game Player Supervisor Peskin apologizes to Commission for the games being played.
This is excellent SFGOVTV, for those following along. Pure gold for people who like to see petty grass grow.
So, despite everyone agreeing that the amendments are good, we're going to see them back at the Commission in May.
