      YIMBYs in the Bay Area constantly show stats about the slow net growth of housing in San Francisco which is intentionally misleading.

      Housing development in San Francisco replaces existing housing. And thus displaces people that used to live there. And costs MORE $$$$.

      This is a myth. Often it doesn't. Often, large projects are built on parking lots or gas station lots.

      Often, projects are built at 2x, 3x, maybe 10x the residential density the lot was before. Net gain.
