Nahalat Shimon, a U.S.-based settler organization, is trying to have Palestinians evicted. Once they are evicted, the property would then be turned over to Jewish settlers under Israeli law. They would get nothing to ease their displacement.

In addition to these evictions and others of the same kind, the Israeli government refuses to grant building permits to Palestinians in the occupied territories who seek to build themselves homes.

We believe that local governments should permit housing. We don’t believe in discrimination of any kind. A person’s ability to live in a city, or a neighborhood, should not be affected by their race or religion.

There is nothing in this statement critical of Zionism, or Israel inherently. In fact, I would argue this sort of advocacy is essential to reviving the two state solution and preserving Israel moving forward.

Property owners are evicting admitted squatters who have refused to pay rent for decades. I’m not sure how taking the sides of the squatters is a YIMBY take.
