Who are the bad actors? Name names. Are there prominent YIMBYs embraced by the movement who are not also vocal advocates of add’l $ for AH? I would also note that in large cities, the marginal value of an additional pro-AH voice is way less significant than that of a YIMBY voice.

The New Market Urbanism groups seem to have a lot more people I would throw into the “bad actors” category. They balk at the idea of public sector influence in the housing market. For most of the west coast YIMBY groups it’s up-zone and... more subsidy, tenant protections, etc.

East coast & midlands too, wouldn’t you say? I feel like the yimby identity is left-of-center aligned everywhere in the States in a way that any group with “market” in the name will never be.

I don’t have much experience with east coast YIMBYs tbh. Didn’t go to Yimbytown in Boston. I guess I only say this for West Coast because many of the über market based people I have run into, come from the Midwest, mid-Atlantic, or Texas Based metro areas.

I very much so believe YIMBY across the board has a pro-tenant, pro-affordable housing, and pro-homeless services platform. I think that’s especially because of great work by

There is no organized YIMBY group that isn't passionately for both market rate and subsidized affordable housing. YIMBY is about an all-of-the-above strategy to ending the shortage. It has NEVER been about just market rate housing.
