Yes, You're Racist

@YesYoureRacist

If you have to start a sentence with 'I'm not racist, but...' then chances are you're pretty racist. Jewish leftist. Opinions my own. RT≠endorsement, obviously.

    Since today is I'll collect some of my Star Wars tweets and threads here, starting with my longread from last year about why the prequels are extremely relevant to the rise of Trumpism and the failure of liberal centrism:

    House Democrats, who led an angry charge against the TRUMP administration’s treatment of migrant children, have taken a much quieter tack regarding concerns over conditions at some of the emergency border shelters set up by the BIDEN administration.

    The first part here is so crucial: the plurality of GOP voters want white nationalism. No matter who runs next in the GOP presidential primary, they will be incentivized to move in the direction of what the base wants. It's a demand driven problem.

    I wish North Carolina's state capital wasn't a big city, because as it is we're constantly having to deal with some bigoted lawmaker from bumfuck nowhere writing an anti-gay bill because he happened to witness two men kissing while he was in Raleigh for the legislative session

    If there's one thing we should all have learned from the Obama presidency it's that incrementalism does not in fact work, and yet

    Like his real-life inspiration, "Terrible" Turpin never hesitated to throw down – especially when someone insulted his partner Maggie Sawyer, one of the first openly gay characters in DC comics

    One of my favorite Kirby creations was Inspector Dan Turpin, who was sort of an author surrogate and a major badass. Turpin's Superman Animated Series design was based on Kirby himself – he was eventually killed while single-handedly facing down Darkseid in a fitting tribute

    Instead of hiding under his desk or calling the police, Kirby just rolled up his sleeves and headed downstairs to the horror of his colleagues. The anonymous callers were gone by the time he arrived – but based on everything we know about Jack Kirby, those Nazi cowards got lucky.

    Kirby, who was Jewish, grew up on the Lower East Side and never backed down from a fight. One time he was working at Marvel and took a call from a voice who said "There are three of us down here in the lobby. We want to show him what real Nazis would do to his Captain America."

    Comics artist Jack Kirby is currently trending because of the new Eternals trailer, so I'm gonna share an anecdote that shows what an absolute legend he was (thread)

    Don’t let this consent manufacturing get you twisted, in none of these cities has anyone actually implemented meaningful reform, much less defunding, so any surge in violent crime is an indictment of the police as they currently exist and operate
