Hi y’all! I’m so excited to share that I’ve written a book about one of my favorite topics: design systems, brand expression, and creativity. 📕 Coming soon from .

My fav is when I try to give myself enough of a buffer in case something goes wrong and then the pharmacy calls me back to yell at me for trying to fill my prescription too soon. 🙂

Wild how the process of refilling ADHD medication feels intentionally hostile to people with ADHD. Every month it’s a huge hurdle.

My first Hack Days ! We made this awesome Avatar Maker for folks to create their pixel selves. Hoping that this could be a fun and easy way to bring a bit of joy and personality into our Dev Docs experience one day!

Anyway, I bought a storage ottoman to replace my “clothes chair.” Problem solved!

I started coaching with the goal of being better at laundry. Turns out what I needed to do was accept that I’m never going to be good at it. And that shouldn’t diminish everything I *am* good at!

It’s wild how much content for women with ADHD is about overcoming shame and guilt about not being good at housework.

Design is part science, part art. I understand it’s trendier to say the art part is inconsequential, but I wish designers didn’t discredit their own work so much.

Why not both? Look at the influence that a calligraphy course had on Steve Jobs. “It was beautiful, historical, artistically subtle in a way that science can’t capture, and I found it fascinating.”

Question for people that are linear thinkers: How? I can’t imagine not seeing 100 branches off of every thought.

Step 1: relating to this Step 2: realizing I opt into this because I hate being bored and measure my worth by my productivity 💀

Oh yeah, this is a thing. This guy once plagiarized my entire talk (but attributed quotes to men throughout.) He said that he had read my work so many times “the ideas started to feel like his own.” That's why I wrote in my book acknowledgements.

I’ve been blaming the train for running late for two weeks and I just realized the train has been on time, *I’ve* just been consistently missing it. 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️ However, cheers to me for living life like I’m the main character. 😅

It’s just easier to say “the design system did this” than to say “people do this by making decisions about what we value and prioritize.”

People seem to always blame this on design systems, but a design system is a force multiplier of what your org values.

When I was new to this industry, I marketed myself around the skills that I saw were in demand. If we’re not seeing these skills, it’s likely because designers aren’t seeing the incentives.
