For non-scientists, if you see something posted from a site called BioRxiv, have some skepticism. It could be a fantastic paper! (I've used it!)--but. The site is for preprints, which means they haven't undergone peer review yet. /1

PSA for everyone freaking out about this coronavirus: A country that YouTubed itself into a 21st Century measles outbreak does not get to talk any shit about anyone else's health practices.

Fenn, my nearly 4 year old daughter, recorded her first ever solo song today. She came up with all the words herself and I helped her a little bit with the tune. It’s called ‘Dinosaurs in Love’. 🦕❤️🦕

Check out this new story by the Drew lab, revealing how the malaria parasite hexose transporter is able to transport both glucose and fructose. Spoiler: it's not about the binding site! MD simulations by Sarah McComas!

In case you’re having a rough day, here’s a video of my daughter being really excited about the “pedestrian walkway,” or as we peasants call it, the crosswalk.

From all over the world I've been getting fearful questions about how people can protect themselves from infection. After responding to some individually, I decided to pull it all together. I hope someone will dist. this in Mandarin & Cantonese.

Here's your periodic reminder that basic research is only "useless" until it suddenly becomes the most important thing in the world. 20 years ago, coronavirology was an obscure sub-field the public never heard about. Good thing we funded it anyway.
