Been saying this for years! Most vitamins/supplements are useless, and some are actually harmful (e.g. correlate with increased cancer risk for example). Good to see
Reflecting on the Joe Rogan/Sanjay Gupta conversation and asking, mainstream vs alternative, and what is a heterodox take on Covid? Brilliant dialogue with Zubin Damania @ZDoggMD@fullydavidhttps://youtu.be/C1RIaZ7RCzw
I liked the point that Joe seems to treat nutrition like a religion, I've observed the same among some of my friends and colleagues. I interpret is as a manifestation of the 'meaning crisis' they talk about on RW a lot.
While it’s true most supplements are useless, especially since most of them lack the vitamins and minerals that most people are deficient in, people in America are mostly unhealthy and are deficient in many vitamins, due to an American standard diet.
Almost everyone does have various deficiencies though. Also that’s not even in relation to optimal levels, but threshold points where side effects might become apparent. If you take them blindly that’s silly, but if it’s a decision based on blood work hard to argue against, no?
which supplements are we talking about being useless? vitamin complexes? which other molecules/compounds? pretty generalised unhelpful point seeming to spear an individual instead of opening a constructive well-directed topic of conversation.
