As a former teacher for 13 years, and co-founder of two schools I have been fighting to ensure we are taking all of the proper safety measures prior to the reopening of schools.https://gothamist.com/news/nyc-public-schools-opening-delayed-september-21 …
This is a statement I sent back in early August, calling on the City to ensure all proper safety measures are in place prior to reopening schools; http://campaign.r20.constantcontact.com/render?preview=true&m=1109457792744&ca=d99467bf-9905-491e-b9c4-fca27e171607&id=preview …pic.twitter.com/tHmZIgxEHW

Proud to have worked alongside my colleagues at the Council,
@UFT, & advocates in delaying the reopening of the schools until September 21st. We now must make sure all schools especially those in underserved communities receive all of the resources they need to reopen safely.Show this threadThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

City Hall please stop the embellishment. People's lives are at stake. Why didn't the Mayor hire an independent agency with specialists to exam the schools' air vents, grilles, filters, air velocity & quality issues? Instead, the ventilation inspections are being done internally.

NYCMayor-The anxiety is real! We lost colleagues but you can alleviate fears by answering: Who's paying for the deep cleanings? Where are these 400 hired nurses, cleaning supplies & PPE's? Are the windows & ventilation systems repaired? Why not mandate instead of random testing?
