Safer mopeds is important. But what kills, seriously injures, pollutes & destroys our streets on a daily basis is motor vehicle use. It's easy to jump on this bandwagon, but we must do more to reclaim our streets from cars & protect people from massive threat those vehicles pose.
It is clear that Revel needs to reevaluate their electric sharing moped service before returning to operations. At the same time, our City leadership must work to put in place all necessary protections required to keep New Yorkers safe. For instance, work with state lawmaker colleagues to require that larger passenger truck & SUV's carry higher insurance minimums & charged higher registration fees than regular passenger cars. Also, ensure many dining & open streets created for the COVID crisis become permanent.
