Additionally, they have extended the timeframe for when New Yorkers can apply to 120 days after the individual's death. This is an initiative I have calling the City to address since before the pandemic.

Updates for burial assistance: @NYCHRA as announced that they have increased their burial allowance from $900 to $1700. They have also increased their cap on burial costs from $1,700 to $3,400. https://www1.nyc.gov/site/hra/help/burial-assistance.page …

This was a conversation we have been having with Melinda Hunt of the
@hartisland project and advocates who have also asked for additional burial assistance. Especially for the poorest NYers who are not able to afford the expensive costs of burial or cremation.Show this thread
