Huh!? We already have a stupid ferry that costs way more than it should. We need BUS LANES, ASAP. Water transport is NOT A SOLUTION!
It is time for the City to look in the right direction and consider water transport. We have seen it in SI, but we must bring it to Battery, 42nd, 72nd, 96th, the GW Bridge, Inwood and Riverdale. I would like to see the City work with DOT to make water transport a reality.pic.twitter.com/kkbi1gvGkr

I have to disagree. Ferries are slow, inefficient and extremely polluting. We are already spending hundreds of millions of dollars on a ferry system that serves as many people as a single bus line while our buses are worse than ever. Fix the buses first!

From p.10 of the Environmental Review, 2016: "...the increase in emissions from ferry engines with the proposed project, could potentially exceed the NAAQS for 1-hour average nitrogen dioxide (NO2), potentially resulting in a significant adverse impact on air quality,"

Y'all talk about water transport but there is almost nowhere to pull out a kayak or canoe in this whole metropolis. Ferry boats are slow, costly, and massive carbon emitters. We need human-powered water transport.

It is time to not do this, in fact. Ferries are fun for tourists & media collateral, but the subsidy per ride is through the roof when compared to subways and buses. Moving an extra few thousand a day to waters edge at 4x the cost via bus demonstrates failure of due diligence.

#fixTheSubway#BusTurnaround and#bikeNYC. These are the keys to improving transportation, reducing congestion & fighting climate change. Subsidize@CitiBikeNYC expansion, dramatically increase bus lanes and#SBS (including Williamsburg Bridge), and get the subway signals fixed. -
Every penny that is diverted to Ferries that carry just a fraction of these other modes, and are huge fuel consumers and carbon emitters, is a penny taken away from where it really needs to be spent.

I guess these are your La Marina replacement plans. Why don't you work with DOT to have actual bus lanes on Broadway with off-board fares. You know, the same ones that are on the Bx12, your district?
