    You have my support . Alcohol is still a very big part of my life around people I love, but at this age, I'm keeping it at 1 to 2 glasses of wine or martini, once a month.

    I’ve decided to quit drinking alcohol permanently. This will be a tough challenge for me: drinking has been a big part of my identity since I was in high school. Unfortunately it's also been an unhealthy way to avoid being fully in touch with my emotions & my experience of life.

    You want early conflicts with your employer (and partners) rather than downplaying and delaying them. Conflicts are how you learn who you both really are.

    Which makes me wonder if you happened to look at cycle time and/or lead time, which when combined with numbers such as throughput and the application of Kanban may shed lights on performance of the system. Happy to speak more extensively on this topic over coffee. (3/3)

    We apply a similar-to-SRE approach for product engineering: 50% on roadmap, and ~50% on improvement. And it's still a challenge to make people (actually, the developers) to appreciate going slower.

    If there’s one lesson I would like the next generation of developers to learn, it is to spend less time doing hard things and more time making hard things easy. Customers benefit from the former. Customers and peers and we ourselves benefit from the latter.
