Heptabase is neat conceptually, but feels rough in use; they haven't invested enough in the visual design, the microinteractions, etc. Working with information is cognitively taxing, so yes, I do want a well-considered interface with appropriate visual polish. Hope they add it.

Sure thing! Better shadows would be a good start.

I've recently been obsessed with trying to figure out how to put a shadow on a white card style on top of a white background and have it not look bad. It's typically tough to do, usually they look muddy so we either opt for a light grey background or just a simple border.
