    Last night I called a DBA in the nightshift and asked for write access to a DB (100MiB, configs) to fix an emergency in production. He yelled in fury and it took a while to convince him. I look forward to all DBAs doing nothing but gatekeeping move out of IT business.

    It's a trivial extension over Java 1 Vector class, which has all methods synchronized and many old-style APIs like Enumeration that can leak into your codebase if you use it.
