"If shaming worked there'd be no fat kids in schools" is perhaps the single best summation of this discussion I've ever heard.

Problem is that now anything that isn't "fat acceptance" is now considered "fat shaming." Even professional Drs that tell patients they need to lose lbs for health...are now considered to be "fat shaming." That's not good. Being fat is not healthy & has tremendous societal costs.

The connection to poverty is absolutely true. When you’re food insecure you reach for the highest calorie impact for the $,which almost always is not just not nutritious,but processed.I lived it.A bowl full of carbs is cheaper but fills your belly vs a bowl full of fruit/veggies

& this has a lot to do with OUR TAX DOLLARS subsidizing corn and wheat in the farm bill. i am all for saving/securing family farmers (NOT big ag) but there has to be another way to achieve this. much of the policy was born out of the great depression, EC distortion preserves it.
