Fast: Yarn caches packages it downloads and parallelizes operations to maximize resource utilization and install times are faster than ever.
-
-
-
Reliable: Using a concise lockfile and a deterministic algorithm for installs, Yarn is able to guarantee that an install is reproducible.
-
Secure: Yarn uses checksums to verify the integrity of every installed package before its code is executed.

Why not just fix npm? Please merge with npm in a responsible way.

can you add shrinkwrap support ?
-
Yarn uses a different lockfile format, as mentioned in the post, because of some issues with shrinkwrap format.

Could this have been done in or through npm, rather than on top of it?
-
npm is fundamentally flawed
-
But yarn builds on top of it? How is that a good idea?
-
It builds on top of the registry, not the client. The flaws are not in the registry.
