Not to mention a checkmark is the mark of a verified account on pretty much every other place on the internet. This is clearly not to "help everyone determine whether a channel is the official YouTube presence of the creator" .
This makes it more confusing.

Who? A checkmark screams "verified" a lot more than this generic gray background.

#YouTube's color scheme and all, but gray is really not a color that pops. No-one pays attention to it. I barely noticed the gray checkmark. If you want to make the distinction easier, choose an actual color. Pretty much any color would be better than gray.Show this thread
