    This Oct 1 marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. In , I pen a letter to the homeland I left with no certain prospect of return. It's an exploration of history&identity, the personal tangled with the state.

    While we are grateful to have retrieved 1/3 of our collection, we are aware this represents a fraction of the entire 85,000-item archive. Our thoughts are very much focused on the two-thirds of the collection that is still sitting at 70 Mulberry Street whose condition is unknown.

    Muji still advertising Xinjiang cotton garments online despite high risk such cotton is produced by forced labor in China's mass detention system for Muslims in the Xinjiang region. US Muji website tho yields no results for “Xinjiang”. From the EU, Japan, & US Muji sites today:

    This account of a pregnant woman's death from an "unknown" pneumonia in a city close to Wuhan is terrifying, enraging, and heart-breaking. Her husband took her to 4 different hospitals before she got real treatment.
