“Though the Stonewall [Riots] are often touted as the beginning of the fight for gay liberation, William Dorsey Swann’s courageous example forces us to rethink the history of the movement: when it began, where it came from, and who its leaders were.”

You don’t ask someone why they don’t have children. You don’t ask someone why they don’t drink. You don’t ask someone why they’ve gained or lost weight. You don’t ask why someone is in a wheelchair. You don’t ask why someone has scars. These are not questions for total strangers.

Listen...for the folks who seem confused by this. Asking if someone has a child is normal conversation, and my answer is a polite, “No.” Asking someone to explain why they don’t have a child is rude. Mind your business.

Just committed to doing a parenting workshop with . Now that I have parented for almost 19yrs I finally feel “qualified” to talk as an expert on values and strategies for liberatory parenting. Of course my local fund is the first to make this dream come true. ✨

Please don’t read a child’s journal/diary. Just don’t. If that’s a safe space for them, don’t ruin it. Somebody read my diary as a child and confronted me with the info. To this day, I still can’t write in my journal without feeling anxious and I always edit certain info out

I've been thinking about the nine ppl found dead in Mississippi's Parchman prison for days now, and I don't know what it's going to take for this country to actually understand that prison is one of the worst things our society does to ppl. There is no justice to be found there.

D & I are in the national news today so I'll take this opportunity to say: - if "diversity" to you means sprinkling some color and gender on top of a foundation without it, you don't get it - I hate the word "inclusion" - it still implies one group holds the party invites

Nicki Minaj refers to him in a letter to court as “the most patient, gentle, genuine, giving selfless man I know.”. I read the details of what he did to this 11 y/o. Pls kno that just bc someone hasn’t abused *you* doesn’t mean they haven’t done monstrous things to someone else.

I wish us all tight hugs, eye contact, restorative naps, warm blankets, community that asks the question, "How is your heart?," waits & listens for the answer silently. May the ground under us hold up with strength & if we need to collapse into grief, may a soft pillow be there.
