the stranger articles that dropped about seattle’s music scene “dying” have plagued me all day and i have so much to say but the biggest thing is PAY ATTENTION !!
Conversation
reading these articles that have very little “good things” mentioned about the seattle music scene is incredibly discouraging to someone who’s been actively trying to make this scene supportive and special for over 7 years now

i am all on board for affordable housing and healthcare for musicians and for everyone but that’s something that plagues everyone in the city who isn’t wealthy.

but did you have to frame it in such a komo presents seattle is dying way? like you couldn’t think to reach out to anyone who’s been supporting and putting in their time for local acts? you couldn’t reach out to any of the numerous artists that have gigging for 5+ years?

there are so many of us that remain here, fighting for this scene and of course you think it’s dying because you’re not writing about us, you’re not cultivating us, you’re complaining that the city isn’t like it was in 2013 while we’ve been here adapting.

These articles get written over and over again, it's exhausting. Seattle music scene is DYING. Cassettes are making a COME BACK.
Neither are true for those who are actually building, making, championing these things and yet the articles pileup on a regular basis.

yo I'm trying to crowdsource actual good ideas about this subject from actual scene participants to photocopy a zine and give it out at local record shops and other such places - if you're at all interested in this please get in touch!
