So like, a lot of the arguments for NoSql vs Sql is about horizontal scaling vs vertical scaling and how important maintaining ACID is to you. But let’s say you have high storage needs, and ACID is not important to you. Do people in practice actually go to NoSQL?

something i want to think through a bit more is that NULL actually has at least 2 different possible meanings: 1. the data is missing ("this person has a name but it's not in our database") 2. the data doesn't exist ("this cat has no owner")

The only long term viable and humane ride hailing app would be one in which drivers are shown the destination. So they can make an informed decision rather than roll the dice and then call to find out. The built-in information asymmetry is unfair to drivers.
