I spent years working with incels in hopes of moderating those violent influences as well as trying to help and advise on breaking out of it. It was exceedingly difficult, though I feel I was successful in individual cases. Not all incels are the same.../1

...nor does it always have the same cause. And yes, some are women.Those who didn't actually hate those who they purported to be romantically attracted to, or were willing to reject a sense of entitlement fared much, much better. However, some appeared to be lost causes./2

Once Elliot Rodger's crime became associated with incel, it became nearly impossible to help anyone, even those who wanted to be helped. There are perfectly nice people who are too shy to date anyone, but they also don't want to be associated with murder. /fin

Give them credit for trying. They're doing what none of us are doing, or even interested in trying. Most simply shove incels to the margins and move on .

Granted. But how one goes about trying makes the differnce. It takes self awareness to pull oneself out the negative circle jerk that is the online incel community. Giving into hate is not the way to try and better oneself
