My decision to make my current game in pure html5 (no wasm) is a challenge at times. Using Unity was much simpler.
Transpile the js code so it still runs on old decives (like my nexus5). Finally it to worked

I like the relative permissivity of the javascript language, which allows to implements reusable patterns quite unverbosely (contrarily to java for instance). Also web browsers are the «VM-ish» the most spread among all devices. So write once run everywhere is quite a sugar.

Also I don't like to depend on the whims and commercial strategies of private compagnies, it's like you don't own a big part of your code if you use proprietary frameworks like Unity and Unreal.

Tools detained by private compagnies come and go (Flash ?) subjected to the randomness of financial circonstances and strategies, but standards are here to ensure every one can develop. That is a more robust and persistant approach IMNHO.
