My decision to make my current game in pure html5 (no wasm) is a challenge at times. Using Unity was much simpler.
Transpile the js code so it still runs on old decives (like my nexus5). Finally it to worked

I wouldn't say it's better in general. existing tools (like Unity) are very efficient. javascript/browsers are extreme when it comes to backwards compatibility (they have this don't break the web spirit). Would be cool if they dont break my gamecode for a long time
