Any Buddhist worth their salt would have to admit they’re just as full of crap as everyone else, but ... as far as justifying a value system, it’s basically: “if you don’t want to feel like crap anymore, follow these rules.”

or, hedonism, but you’re failing if you ever feel discontent seems useful to oppressive regimes who need a passive and pliant populous to exploit

yeah this is my biggest issue with it it'd be nice to not feel like crap anymore, but I'd rather bring about a world that makes fewer people feel like crap

Almost like you're wired for meaning instead of not suffering? What if everyone else is too?

Any kind of existential relief you find based on relieving the suffering of others (as opposed to your own) is existential buck passing.

Love is super important; but most of us are not capable of some kind of universal saintly love. That's one of the reasons why it's important to commit fully to love when the opportunity arises. A lover, a stranger on the bus, a wounded animal, whatever.

If justice is an attempt to fill that void, I think it's a weak fix. To me, it seems that the darkest horrors ultimately come from some lack of love. It's a fundamental failure of the psychological mechanism of justice that lets it happen.
