I often take heat for dissing Trump but I don't do it because I'm wildly liberal. I'm not. It's because I've experienced his public rhetorical style firsthand from another powerful business dude in my life and I recognize the tactics he uses to control optics. It's distasteful.

Stuff like reframing the narrative in a flattering light and forcing underlings to take heat for you (note how he only started having others speak once people got mad at him) are classic control tactics for sociopaths.

I would not have recognized these tactics as such before I spent a bunch of time studying how sociopaths control people and picking apart the dynamics for my own self-preservation at that time. Now I have a visceral distaste for them.

Other tactics include things like attacking the character of enemies to avoid confronting issues directly and deflecting blame at all costs to maintain positive optics are also hallmarks of sociopathic control.

I dislike him because I understand him and how he operates by virtue of directly experiencing it through someone else. It's hard to see the pieces of how it works unless you've been there or thought about this a lot.

When you maintain a positive self-image in the public eye it's easier to maintain support. Creating misinformation and confusion is another way to do this because it exhausts people. His meandering topics and speaking style supports this.

Also look at how he constantly signals strength and denies any weakness or error. It's a way to intimidate and maintain the perception of an overwhelmingly powerful persona, even if you don't actually have the power you claim to. Intimidate, blame, self-promote, control.

The qualities that make a good person are not the same as what make a good president (not suggesting Trump has either). George W. Bush was probably a better person on a 1 to 1 human level than Trump. But look at the damage he caused.

I actually totally agree But Trump emphatically does not have the right qualities to be our international figurehead in my opinion

No. I relaxed a bit after the N Korea thing when he basically just did some sabre rattling and came out with some feathers for his hat and did what any rational politician would do.

Now that there is a crisis that requires actual leadership, my opinion of him is closer to what it was when he was elected - that he's dangerously incompetent.
