Possibly repugnant utilitarian handwaving/shitposting: Mortality caps badness of fates worth than death. From a veil of ignorance perspective, mortality is a stopgap on infinite suffering. Should maybe stably universally solve suffering before solving immortality even locally.
I am also pro-consciousness, but find this position to be impossible to reconcile with utilitarianism, positive or negative.

Utilitarianism is pretty messed up unless had a planning failure and need to desperately and imminently make hard local decisions.
