Your main critique is solid, but I think sympathy to moralism is a weak argument. And to assume that you can ‘know you’re being shitty’ is a bad premise. If morality is a mechanism of behavioural regulation within a group, then it can only promote a transient social harmony.

key word is 'entirely' because it is easy to get red pilled and see how much of morality and high falutin justifications are self serving. but i stubbornly believe real nobility exists

Hell yeah. What kinds of things or people give you that sense? People have pretty different ideals in mind, a lot of the time. I get a lot out of Plutarch.
