Why are some lies 'white'? Why aren't they blue? Is a white lie a lie of protective sensitivity to another's state, or is it a withholding of the truth to conceal the teller's own insecurity, fear of loss, or reprisal?

extension of the generally dualistic and Manichaean morality of Christianity where "white" = pure/good and "black" = impure/evil the motivations behind a "white" lie are good. the other colors are not mapped to morality because it would break the binary framing.

Interesting... isn't it. Satan is Lucifer, the Son of the Morning - the light bearer. He tells us the truth, whereas 'The Father' hides knowledge from us, and punishes us if we pursue it.

that's a very gnostic interpretation and was suppressed by the hierarchy in the earlier centuries of Christianity. the gnostics were as close to a non-dualistic framing as Xtianity ever came.

yes they did, gnostic christianity is still very dualistic, especially in it's ontology and cosmology. but their hermeneutics are interestingly close to a non-dualistic perspective.
