To the Google cross. This Google atty hasn't spoken yet except as a transcript reader. Tells the jury, "I'm playing myself today."

Civjan's testimony was about how "devastated" Java's sales were, but his LinkedIn said they were doing great the whole time. Hmm.
-
"Mr. Civjan, your LinkedIn says your greatest weakness is that you care TOO much. Would you say that is accurate?"
-
(that line is a joke. hard to tell with this trial)
-
Next witness is Alan Brenner, who led Java mobile stuff at Sun from 1997-2007.
-
Interesting point from Brenner: Early mobile OSes were so insecure operators didn't want to allow apps without Java managed environments.
-
Brenner describes the process of developing Java ME, which he led. They "discovered" an existing research project at Sun and took it over.
-
Brenner: Java ME absorbed more and more of Java SE functionality, because devices were advancing.
-
Taken together with the last witness, this could be arguing again for the inevitability of Android's innovations.
-
We're heading into a 15 minute break. Yr boy needs coffee.
-
OK there's a dispute about this document and a dispute in Korea and GNU Classpath. I mention it only so this quote has some conext:
-
Alsup: "How come Sun didn't shut down the GNU?"
-
OMG they are literally arguing about the Berne convention
-
Google atty distinguishing older PDA-style phones from Android: "You remember you used to have press the 2 key 3x for 'C'?"
-
Google's presenting Brenner with a Sun slide about Java fragmentation on mobile.
-
Brenner: Yeah, they were not bug-for-bug compatible.

Oracle calls its next witness, Stefano Mazzocchi
-
Oracle asks him about his Twitter account. This is always a scary question.
-
Mazzocchi described himself as one of three people who created Apache Harmony, in a tweet in 2010
-
Lessons from Oracle v Google: - Never email - Never tweet - Never offer an opinion - An API can be considered as like a breakfast menu, wher
-
Oracle now asking if he's familiar with the Wayback Machine. She's showing him a web page from 2008.
-
WOW this is very much a Never Email moment. Oracle quotes "I was missing the fact that the copyright on the API is real and hard to ignore."
-
It actually gets worse from there. This is an email from Apache Harmony developer Stefano Mazzocchi.
-
I believe Oracle's Annette Hurst was cleared to treat this witness as hostile this morning. Hard to imagine how this would go otherwise.
-
Oracle atty: "Did you ever describe Android's use of Sun's intellectual property as 'ripping them off'?"
-
Mazzocchi (again, not an Android guy!) says he doesn't remember.
-
Google to Mazzocchi: "Thinking back to 2008, what did you know about fair use in copyright law?" M: I don't recall knowing anything.
-
More of the Hacker News Comments defense. Clearly, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, our witness knows nothing.
-
Mazzocchi is sitting there on the stand while Alsup and the attorneys are in a sidebar. What must be going through his head.
-
Please keep in mind any name you select might be rattled off in a list by angry attorneys and judgeshttps://twitter.com/robpegoraro/status/732994138472206337 …
-
Mazzocchi is off the stand. That was intense. 15 minute break.
