        @rone @xlerb 'is' is a very bad way to test equality in Python, since it is 'is this literally the same object'. The 1st working is luck.

        .@thatcks @rone Context is that I was trying to demonstrate why `is` wasn't what someone wanted (& refresh my hazy recollection about it).

        @rone @xlerb For me the first one is surprisingly interesting: the process of compiling Python bytecode optimizes "fo"+"o" into just "foo".

        @thatcks @rone Yeah; that's the one I wasn't expecting. Maybe makes sense if +'ed literals for line-wrapping are a thing?
