A friend once shared what she called the Parable of the Choir: A choir can sing a beautiful note impossibly long because singers can individually drop out to breathe as necessary and the note goes on. Social justice activism should be like that, she said. That's stuck with me.

An AL woman shot a man who’d just raped her. She shot him as he choked her brother, who’d just arrived to help. 48 hrs later, she was charged with murder. Today, she lost her Stand Your Ground Hearing. In Al, women rarely win.

If you work in VI, Falomo and environs and you see keke operators and Gokada riders protesting, better come out and join them. Dont outsource it to them like you've outsourced your liberation to Jimi Agbaje. It is your welfare they're protesting for. Not just the money they make

I remember when Rush Limbaugh, laughed & joked about Eric Garner not being able to breathe. Rush ridiculed & mocked Michael J. Fox, for having Parkinson’s and laughed about Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s cancer. Maybe now Rush will feel and show empathy for others! At least I hope so!

"The system does not care for us, and we have for so long asked things of it that it is not designed to do, cannot do. But we are shifting the centres of power. And we are creating change." - Esther Mirembe

There is a huge price of visibility that feminist “leaders” pay, you get to be part of panels/events/all sorts of fancy things which mostly requires free labour but you are excluded from the structures of resources. Visibility is a privilege but it entails systemic exclusion too.

we (everyone that can read or RT this) can print out flyers and distribute so the people will know how and when to take the power back into their hands. You can protest on the island or mainland, just be sure you do it in numbers!
