Trying something here, dunno if anyone cares: If you like the coding/reverse engineering/datamining-related stuff I do, feel free to support that stuff by... "buying me a coffee"...?

1 am, visiting family, possibly scored something really nice on eBay earlier, will see once it arrives sometime next week, I guess... For now tho, good night~

  3. Network drivers installed, the installer detected the card correctly, the included diagnostic tools say the card works... It's frustrating. Enough for now tho, will be visiting family and still need to pack my stuff, etc...

  4. Hrrrm. AUI transceiver for the Mac IIci arrived. And either its LAN card is somewhat broken, or the transceiver not getting any power is another symptom of the logic board issues... although the correct voltage *does* get to the Nubus slots...?

And once/if I get some external SCSI cables and enclosures, I could hook up said CD-ROM and PCMCIA adapter properly. ... but anyway, first things first, fixing it up properly. We'll see about that as soon as possible.

Now, assuming I can fix it up properly, I can (temporarily) hook up a SCSI CD-ROM or PCMCIA-memory-to-SCSI adapter (to the internal cable), I *might* be able to connect it to my network once that AUI transceiver arrives, software is on Macintosh Garden, etc, etc...

Not-so-random thought of the day: This particular Mac IIci is one I've had for probably 20 years now, btw. I'm pretty sure it was my very first Mac, but because it only had a floppy drive and small HDD - and I had no software whatsoever, especially on floppy - I couldn't use it!

These power issues are "Interrupting" my enjoyment of this machine!

(well, I should say, it "powered on", not necessarily "booted up", but eh, semantics)

One more Mac IIci observation: I tried the system again after several hours, with the "assumed fixed" PSU, and it booted up. So, huh. Maybe some capacitor in the PSU or the logic board's soft-power circuitry, and letting it sit for X hours lets it discharge or whatever...?

One last idea wrt the Mac and the PSU, maybe there's something wrong with the soft-power circuitry on the logic board? Because the modded ATX PSU is always on, as ATX and Mac soft-power isn't directly compatible...

NOPE, it died again! First I had to push the power button multiple times, then it stopped reacting to it completely. Modded ATX PSU still works. God fucking damnit.

So assuming this doesn't end up blowing up on me, or letting the magic smoke out again, or anything like that... I guess I gotta recap this logic board and the cache card soon, huh? :D

It would mostly be porting code like this to assembler, and if possible, utilizing NEON instructions.

Would anyone with experience with ARM/SIMD programming be interested in helping to optimize bsnes (especially the video renderer (PPU)) using inline assembler? I will pay proper developer wages for the work. I'd like to get things running better on the Pi 3, etc.
