Isn't that the idea? I mean did anyone think Hollywood would improve upon literally anything they reboot? I thought the objective was to destroy beloved childhood memories in exchange for money.

I would say the idea is "mass appeal" destory everything that made the original good and unique to get the most possible people in the seats, but I refuse to believe that this appeals to anyone.
