    1) Climate change. A species gleefully obliterating itself when it could save itself. 2) The plot behind FF8, which is a closed time loop being indefinitely fed more power. 3) The Outside, by

I wish it had been possible for us to discuss the very real exclusion of WOC stories from traditional publishing without legislating another survivor's experiences as Real or Not Real, but it was not. And that's very saddening to me.

My communication style IRL is that I am either giggling and excitedly saying entire paragraphs or withdrawn and laconic and staring into space, there is very little middle ground. I get along best with the people who can giggle and say entire paragraphs right back.

Your human worth is fixed. It’s a constant. You don’t lose it when you fail. You don’t gain more when you achieve. Your worth is not tied to your career or public opinion. If you can internalize this idea, you’ll find it easier to discover what you actually want from life. 💚

A bad metaphor is like a tree slathered in cake frosting. Sure, you can probably get something from it with enough effort, but there's gonna be some dingus standing there with a spatula and looking real embarrassed.

Tweeps, I almost hesitate to ask this, but what are your favorite romances involving villains as love interests? What do you feel makes a story of that nature work well?

Funny how "economic anxiety" is used to justify punching down against minorities who didn't cause the any of the problems in our economy, instead of punching up and eating the rich and taking their stuff 🧐

I strongly believe both these things are true yet I have trouble really understanding how they interact, how the laws of the universe can possibly work in a universe where they are both true.

Where two individuals, or even the same individual at different times in their life, can have completely opposite responses to the same story, and yet responses to stories aren't random or meaningless either, where the stories still have genuine power.

I'm thinking about The Power Of Stories and I'm wondering if there is fiction (or like, really good nonfiction) that engages with this really well while also showing how nuanced and individual humans' responses to art really are.

Everyone has a book in them, but it takes a special kind of freak to leave the Land of Laziness, cross the Plains of Procrastination & Insecurity Mountain, kill the fear demons, find the Blade of No One Made You Do This, & use it to slice their chest open and yank that book out.

Anyone who considers themselves any kind of progressive, leftist, liberal, or just plain decent human being ought to understand that axes of oppression are myriad and collide in all kinds of ways. It’s not as simple as “workers of the world unite!” anymore.
