Okay, post is updated with a final head count on the born-alive bill vote. All Democrats opposed, except for three: Casey, Jones, Manchin. All Republicans voted in favor except three who missed the vote: Cramer (flight delay), Murkowski, and Tim Scott.

All five Democrats running for the 2020 presidential nomination (Booker, Gillibrand, Harris, Klobuchar, and Warren), along with Bernie Sanders and likely 2020 Democrat Sherrod Brown, voted against the born-alive bill.

A spox for Tim Scott tells me his flight was delayed, but he was minutes away from making it to the vote. “He would’ve absolutely voted for it,” I’m told. Flight delays are one reason pro-lifers often grumble about these votes being scheduled on Monday, by the way.

Not necessarily. They may recognize that a law already exists to protect newborns and that this was redundant.

Good. This bill was nothing but GOP theatrics and propaganda. There is already a law for this, the Born-Alive Protection Act signed into law by George W. Bush in 2002.

And yet there was a bill in Virginia that allowed for a baby to be born, “kept comfortable” while a discussion would then ensue as weather or not to kill that baby born alive. The Left has gone a hell of a lot further left in the past 17 years.
