A policy preventing Copyright owners from making $ on manual claims for:
Short song clips (ex: 5 sec of a song)
Unintentional audio (ex:
from passing cars)
Claimants can still block monetization or the video itself, but timestamps help you edit out the claim.

Yeah, that's good news, but do you mind keeping the dislike button? There are good reasons why you should leave the dislike button alone, like people disagreeing with you, or criticism. Sincerely, Actual content creators who aren't from some multi-million dollar conglomerates.

Nah, they should ditch it. I doubt most creators actually care if folks disagree with them (I certainly don't) and the simple act of pressing a button does NOTHING to offer useful criticism. It's an outdated feature, and YouTube would be better without it.

Data in any form is worth collecting and an extra insight into how your content is being received should be welcomed. It's not about whether you care, it's about optimizing your content.

Here's the thing on that: I've never seen any use of the dislike button in my time on YouTube (I set up in 2016) that indicated patterns I could use to adjust my content. When you post review based stuff, that's sort of to be expected. And rather useless.

I can take criticism just fine. The thing is, clicking a button and running is NOT the same as offering criticism. Criticism requires actually engaging with somebody and articulating what you want to say to them.

1/2. Maybe the dislike button doesn't apply to you specifically but that doesn't mean it doesn't have a place. I have seen huge dislikes on videos impact the situation. Like YouTube rewind and obviously fake apology vids.

2/2 It might not make much of a difference with smaller creators whose like to dislike ratio is normal, but on a big scale it matters. Its an effective way to immediately let the creator know you aren't don't like the video. More people hit like or dislike than comment usually.
