What’s an appropriate time to start? I would suggest 9am, but many would say 8am. One of the days greatest social quandaries

I think 9am is good, allows for a sleepin but also allows you to get in and get it done before it gets too hot.

As an acoustic consultant I can confirm there definitely is laws against that. Check your local council guidelines - generally you can't start before 7am. I got woken up by someone drilling and hammering in an apartment above me today -_- mind you, that was at 930 am... :P
